Position: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job Description:
Product development and product improvement for complex processing equipment involving PVD/CVD/RTP technologies used in the manufacturing of semiconductors & solar cells.
Conducts design, documentation, prototype build, and testing of systems & subsystems such as robotics, vacuum system, magnetron packaging, as well as incorporation of OEM components such as power supplies and controllers.
Responsibilities:
Works in a fast-paced industrial environment with a high level of technological complexity. Provides design solution set involving multiple aspects of mechanical engineering, while focusing on design quality, effective cost, and ease of manufacturing & service. Specific duties include:
- Provides best design concepts by monitoring concept and design review meetings, as well as by personal contribution
- Executes design projects, including initial concept, layouts and detailed engineering and documentations thereof
- Performs analytical studies requiring a variety of engineering knowledge, including analysis of vacuum system, heat transfer, structural analysis, static and dynamics, fluidics, vibration and motion mechanism
- Works with other engineers and designers, as well as with team members outside the engineering department, as needed to complete project requirements
- Generates and/or directs drawing detailing, as required
- Reviews and conducts release of full documentation
- Supports procurement efforts in correlation with overall project deadlines
- Provides “hands on” assistance in testing and support to manufacturing
- Prepares presentations as needed and directed
- Develops test plans and designs of experiments and is directly involved in prototype development and testing
- Participates directly in activities associated with design release and implementation
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering required, MSME preferred
- Minimum five years of direct experience in semiconductor capital equipment industry, or ten years of experience in a similar technological field or related area
- High vacuum chamber design experience
- 3D modeling CAD expertise required, experience with SolidWorks preferred, 2D/3D AutoCAD experience plus
- Finite element analysis expertise preferred (structural and heat transfer)
- Proven expertise in the analytical fields of Mechanical Engineering
- Automation experience and experience with robotics in a vacuum or atmospheric environment highly preferred
- Gas & fluid delivery design
- Knowledge and prior experience in documentation control practices
- Familiarity with DFMEA desirable
- Some experience with project management a plus
- Team player able to take initiative and own full projects
- Ability to travel on as needed basis (5-10%)
